Who's behind Go!BrightCart, and how your money actually moves
Before you connect a Stripe account and start taking payments, you should be able to answer three questions without digging through legal pages: who runs this, where does the money go, and what happens to my data if I ever leave. Here are straight answers.
What Go!BrightCart is
Go!BrightCart is a hosted storefront and embedded-checkout platform, built to get a single-item seller from "I have a file to sell" to "I have a paid, protected download live" in one sitting. It is run as a focused, independently operated product rather than a large team with a call center — that's a tradeoff, and it's one we think is worth being upfront about. It means decisions get made quickly and support requests reach a real person, not a ticket queue.
Where your money goes
Go!BrightCart uses Stripe Connect. When a buyer pays, the money is processed by Stripe and lands in your own Stripe account — not a Go!BrightCart-controlled pool of funds. We never hold your balance, and we never see or store raw card numbers; that's handled entirely by Stripe, which is independently PCI-compliant at a level no individual platform can self-certify. Our platform fee is deducted automatically at the time of the transaction, the same way a payment processor's fee would be. You could disconnect Go!BrightCart tomorrow and your Stripe account, your transaction history, and your payout schedule would be completely unaffected.
Your data, if you ever want to leave
Your customer list, order history, and Stripe relationship belong to you, not to Go!BrightCart. Because payouts run through your own Stripe account rather than a shared merchant-of-record pool, switching platforms later does not mean starting your customer relationships over. We built the pricing and plan structure around that principle deliberately: paid plans buy you a lower transaction rate and more headroom, never ownership of something that should already be yours.
What we're responsible for, and what you are
Go!BrightCart is a payment facilitator via Stripe Connect, not a merchant of record. Each seller is the merchant of record for their own sales and is responsible for their own tax registration, collection, and remittance. We built tax-aware checkout to help with the calculation, but the filing obligation is yours, not ours — we'd rather say that plainly here than have it surprise you later.
